Windows 8.1: Auto Login and go directly to Desktop

Usually, you login to Windows Account. The Windows 8.1 Start screen pops up. Then press on the Desktop icon for the good old view. Takes 5 seconds maybe, but sometimes annoying nonetheless. Get rid of it.

Auto login: Pull out the Sidebar and type neplwiz and open it. On the Users tab, uncheck ‘Users must enter a username and password to use this computer’. When you click Apply, you’d be prompted for the password, Enter it now and it will be saved for future auto login.

Opening directly to Desktop: Right click on the Taskbar, click properties and check  the box, ‘when I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start’.
